ood condition original antique Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver in .36 percussion caliber. Mechanically functions fine and tight. Serial number 4101, which dates it to manufacture in 1861. Revolver has all matching serial numbers. Revolver was purchased by the Baltimore police and has guaranteed period original engraved “U.S. Police Balto.” on the butt. The Colt address on the barrel is worn, otherwise markings are clear. Metal is worn to bright with some scattered gray and brown patina. Barrel fit to frame is somewhat loose. 4 ½” barrel has a good bore with strong rifling and some pitting. The front sight bead is worn down or broken. Wood grip has original finish and shows some wear and varnish loss. Left side has a small chip. A rare Baltimore Police marked Colt revolver that will make a fine addition to a collection.
